TCL/Tk ncpfs graphical client for NDS

under the hood of ndsutils.tcl

Purpose:

Common part of all TCL/Tk GUI for ncpfs.

These applications were first created as front end for the Caldera Open Linux Netware oriented command line applications (nwlogin, nwlogout,nwmount, nwlist ,nwpasswd...) and were later modified when the almost equivalent commands (ncplogin, ncplogout, ncpmap, ncplist and chgpwd) were added to ncpfs.

Requirements:

ncpfs version 2.2 installed and operational (slist) on the Linux box.
recursively copy contrib/tcl somewhere (/usr/local/bin ?) and don't forget to copy and edit ndsclient.conf to /etc
You also must run 'make && make install' in contrib/tcl-utils to install in your path the called command lines utilities.

Usage:

configuration:

These programs read configuration informations from the file /etc/ndsclient.conf that must be there even unchanged,
and honor four environnement variables as default values :

NWCLIENT_PREFERRED_TREE
NWCLIENT_DEFAULT_NAME_CONTEXT
NWCLIENT_DEFAULT_USER
NWCLIENT_DEFAULT_PASSWORD
see  ncplogin  for globally setting them.

Here is the original content of /etc/ndsclient.conf:

translation:
To help translation, the GUI read all the strings to display from the ndsstrings.tcl file, located in the same directory as the tcl scripts.
The GUI is available in French and English in current ncpfs release.
To swap between these two languages, overwrite the file ndsstrings.tcl with either ndsstrings.tcl.fr or ndsstrings.tcl.eng.

To translate it to another language, says Spanish, proceeds as follow:
- duplicate one of the ndsstrings.tcl file , says ndsstrings.tcl.eng to ndsstrings.tcl.sp.
- edit with any text editor the ndsstrings.tcl.sp file and translate all strings between curly braces {}. Caution, in TCL/tk strings are not surrounded by quotes, only curly braces
- Finally overwrite the ndsstrings.tcl with the ndsstrings.tcl.sp.

Under the hood :
- These applications where written with Visual Tcl 1.20 which is a quite good IDE to quickly create TCL/Tk Gui but no so good to modify them later on.
- Most of the "ncpfs" related code is located in the non "visual file" named ndsutils.tcl. In the case of dysfunctionnments (bad parameters passed to ncpfs command lines utilities..,bad contexts... , this is the place to search first ;-)
